Globalisation Essay (1st Draft)

How has the globalisation of brands impacted on everyone, everywhere?

Globalisation of brands impacts and affects almost everyone, everywhere. Why I say almost is that the impact of brands are unlikely to have an affect on the very remount areas of the world, such as the deserts and tribes people, as well as even some undiscovered islands but that’s not to say that brands can’t achieve an impact on them. Brands are so powerful in this day and age that its possible for them to start flyers, billboards, etc almost straight away if they wish too but the only reason doing so would be if they could achieve a profit. It affects people in rural areas as people out of town are likely to move into the town anyway to receive any particular branded goods, that’s if they don’t trust the internet. If they do, they will be covered with brand labels and logos everywhere if they go on the net to try and purchase a pair of shoes and alike and for as the inner city people, people in New York, London, etc have a mass amount of awareness with brands. With even some whole buildings covered in posters/advertising and having some buildings with a massive logo on top. It’s almost everywhere and it effects everyone. Their jobs, as a lot of jobs are now these so called “Fake jobs” and their well being of life.

The advantages of globalisation of brands is that it provides job but in doing so, it dominates a lot of different sectors, due to the fact that globalisation is on such a huge scale, a lot of these brands such as Nike and alike can easily buy out small business and make them their own. This in turn creates a disadvantage on more local business if they are more and more exposed to this kind of dominance but it also loses people’s trust. Before brands were so mass market, people would generally buy their goods from a local shopkeeper or a market, now that’s changed and most of these products are produced in a far away factory outside some remount town which is also a problem as that can cause a lot of pollution within our climate.

Lastly, globalisation of brands doesn’t just effects people trust, jobs and the way they life, it also affects peoples mind set. Meaning that, people associate themselves with certain brands. Not everybody does this but because a certain brands is so popular and relevant, this means that some people are more likely to buy a certain product just because it has a certain label on it than the other which could be of higher quality, instead of using cheap labour to get the biggest profit for these companies. This effects people greatly as it might not give business doing similar or innovative products a chance and that they become crushed by these mass-market giants. Continuing on with jobs earlier, because of the lose of jobs and sometimes even the cruelty of cheap and children labour upon people in foreign countries, it can cause an uproar in society. Riots could break out and it could cause destruction and anger in the world, which is expected but because these brands are so huge, people might get jealous when they wouldn’t normally do when losing they job, they might lose their calm and violent attack people and/or properties which can be a little alarming.
